Coordination and harmonization of molecular genetic methods, reviewing literature.

Several large- and small scale projects have generated a vast amount of data on the molecular diversity of livestock breeds. However, lack of standardization of microsatellite panels limits the scope of most studies to a regional or local scale. Globaldiv promotes harmonization of molecular research and a meta analysis of existing dataset. In addition, we review evaluate for the first time the available literature, organize Workshops and Summer Schools and anticipate on new technological developments (Y-chromosomal haplotyping, SNP analysis, whole-genome sequencing).
